It’s hard to believe six months have gone by since we were at the 2013 Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival. It was a fabulous weekend of great weather, amazing location, excellent food and of course, lots of good wine. We met many interesting people, made a few new friends and generally enjoyed ourselves immensely. So with the worst of winter behind us (hopefully) and the spring about to arrive we’ll look forward to the 2104 version of this event, and put a marker on the calendar. Actually we’ve already booked a room for the weekend in Newport.
The 2014 Newport Mansions Food & Wine Festival will be held September 19-21 in Newport, RI. This will be the ninth rendition of the festival, and events will span the three days and once again include a series of informative seminars, Wine & Rosecliff on Friday night, Grand Tastings both days on the weekend as well as the Collectible Wine Dinner on Saturday at The Elms. There’s something for everyone here. If you’d like to read about last year’s events there are several blogs on the overall weekend, top red wines, top white wines and a summary. We fully expect this year’s version to be at least as good. The Newport Mansion people seem to always find ways to improve.
Details are still forming, but the current celebrity chef lineup includes Fabio Viviani, Sara Moulton and Floyd Cardoz. It should be entertaining to say the least. We’re still months away from formal seminar topics and the list of wineries/distributors pouring at the event, but we have never been disappointed here. Just read the blogs linked above and you’ll get some impression of the quality of the wines. And don’t forget the Saturday night Newport After Dark party.
We’ll provide more details as we get closer, but you might want to mark your calendars now. I know we have and we’ll be there. You can follow the event details as they develop on the Newport Mansion’s Food & Wine Festival website here.
