Wine does not have to be epic, complex and breathtaking in nature to be good. Of course we love all of those characteristics, and they are what separate the great wines from the good ones. Yet sometimes you just want something that tastes good, is fun, and makes you happy. This is one of those. This is perfectly sufficient, and sometimes easy and refreshing. You don’t want to always be dissecting a wine’s attributes. Once in a while, or often if it suits you, just enjoy.
Wine: 2012 Villa Jolanda Brachetto d’Acqui
Winery Location: Piemonte, Italy
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: June 2014
Tasting Notes: – as we said in the opening, sometimes you just want a fun, good tasting wine. This is it. It’s a sweet, red sparkling wine. Think of a red Moscato. The Villa Jolanda checks in at 6% alcohol, so it’s light. It’s absolutely delicious in a fruit punch, fizzy, yummy kind of way. It’s fun.
Price Point – about $10.
Would We Buy It? – absolutely. It’s delicious and cheap, and fun and bubbly. This is all good. You can get more expensive versions but they really don’t bring much more to the table. Not for everyday certainly, but a good summer sipper and a great Valentine’s Day wine.
So have some fun, sip some Brachetto d’Acqui and try something different. Life is too short to not have fun. Save the notes and complex palate profile for a few days and just drink this.
A votre sante!
