Wine: 2018 Chateau Haut-Brisson
Winery Location: Saint Emilion, Bordeaux
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: Feb 2022
Tasting Notes: The wine is a dark reddish purple in color, with a nose of dark berries, tobacco, herbs and oak. There is some mint as well. On the palate it is a bit young and brawny, with medium+ tannins. Full bodied, it sports a long finish and is 14.5% alcohol. This will round out nicely with a few more years of bottle time, but is quite enjoyable now. I would decant for an hour if opening now.
Price Point – $30-$35
Would We Buy It? – Yes. This is a reasonably priced, complex and impressive wine from a great vintage in Bordeaux. It’s a good candidate to buy a half case or case of and watch it develop over the next 10-15 years.
Great Bordeaux vintages make for some equally great values. It think we’ve said that a few times.
