Here we’ll review one of our 2010 Bordeaux bottles, in this case a Medoc wine with a fairly modest price tag. The wine is another great example of what we always say, buy lower priced Chateaux in great Bordeaux vintages – that’s where the great values lie. As further proof we offer the following:
Wine: 2010 Chateau de Panigon Winery Location: Medoc, Bordeaux
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri
Tasting Notes – the wine is a dark purple red. Dark fruits and berries dominate the nose, with currant and blackberry prominent. There is oak also, as well as a touch of earth. On the palate the wine is full bodied, with a classic Bordeaux profile and a long finish. The fruit is quite nice, complemented by complex flavors. Everyone steps it up in great years.
Price Point – it was about $18, and it’s on wine-searcher for $15.
Would We Buy It? – at $15 this is a no brainer. It’s a chance to get a pretty classic bottle of Bordeaux for little money. We would definitely buy more.
Buy the great vintages, but don’t spend ridiculous money. Words to live by.
A votre santé!
