This wine is one of those unexpected finds, where you pick up a bottle at a good price but aren’t really expecting anything great. We grabbed this at North Kingston Liqours one day on the 2 for $26 rack. Over the years we have experienced many excellent Ripassos, and some good ones. I was expecting a good one in all probability.
Expectations were quickly dispelled as the wine is better than good. It is excellent. Here are the notes:
Wine: 2011 Le Preare Ripasso di Valpolicella
Winery Location: Veneto, Italy
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: June 2014
Tasting Notes: – dark purple/red with ruby rims, the wine brings a big nose of black currant, cherry and more fruit, fruit, fruit. It shows considerable legs and is medium+ in body. The finish is very long. There is a core of fruit here that is just beautiful. The tannins are sweet and the fruit just keeps going. This is unexpected at this price point and a clear value list wine.
Price Point – $13
Would We Buy It? – we did, and after trying it went back and bought half a case. This is great value.
You try a wine and it turns out to be great for the price point. That’s what keeps us going sometimes, and it is always a welcome surprise. Try this, you won’t be disappointed at this price.
A votre sante!
