Here we’ll review another rosé, made to be chilled and built for summertime. This comes from Bila-Haut, Michel Chapoutier’s property in the Languedoc region of southern France. As we’ve said many times, we’re not big rose fans, but some of these are undeniably very good. This is one of those.
Wine: 2018 Bila-Haut Pays d’Oc Rose
Winery Location: Côtes du Roussillon, France
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: July 2019
Tasting Notes: a pale pink color, this wine has a bright nose filled with strawberry, citrus and a streak of minerality. It is very delineated. On the palate, beautiful fruit comes through in perfect balance, with clean flavors and a surprisingly long finish. The acid here is great, cleansing and refreshing. This is very well made wine, and one which everyone will like. A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault, this is fermented and aged in 100% stainless steel tanks.
Price Point – $12-$15
Would We Buy It? – we would, absolutely. This wine is delicious and very affordable. It’s perfect for your next summer party, picnic or afternoon in the backyard.
While still not our go to wine in the summer, or anytime, we have to admit that rosé is growing on us.
A votre santé!
