We’ve raved about Foppiano Vineyards, and the wines they’ve been producing with winemaker Nova Perrill. You can read about some of those here and here. Across the board they are impressive and great values. Foppiano is one of our favorite producers, and Nova one of our favorite winemakers.
Here we’ll review one more wine from Foppiano. This is their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, from the Russian River Valley of Sonoma. Based on all of the previous wines we expected something great. Would we be disappointed? Let’s see.
Wine: 2018 Foppiano Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – “Northern Edge”
Winery Location: Sonoma Valley, California
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: March 2022
Tasting Notes – The wine is a dark ruby in color, with a big nose that leaps out of the glass. There is dark fruit, including plum and blackberry, vanilla, menthol, wood and herbs. It is complex certainly, and on the palate equally so. Tannins are medium+, and there is bright acid to keep the balance. The wine is fresh, rich, full bodied and age worthy. Add another to the impressive line of Foppiano wines.
Price Point – $55, less for wine club members
Would We Buy It? – We did, and pulled this bottle from our personal cellar. We will buy more as well. This is a top notch Sonoma Cab which will age for decades. It is pretty excellent, and well worth the price.
Foppiano continues to deliver. The future looks bright here indeed.
A votre santé!
