Australia is known for Shiraz, and it comes in all forms from entry level to iconic. Penfold’s Grange is known around the world, is very expensive, and is mostly made from Shiraz. Shiraz is actually the same grape as Syrah, as it is known everywhere else in the world. The wine we review here is on the lower end, not very expensive, and still well worth a look. Here it is:

Tasting Notes: this wine is a dark red. The nose has spice, herbs, cedar wood and a strong savory quality, definitely a bit reminiscent of roasted meat. You get that meaty, savory flavor on the palate as well, along with other nuances This is a big, full bodied wine. It checks in at 14.9% alcohol, and you can feel that. Cheri really liked this wine.

Would We Buy It? – Yes. This is a big, meaty red wine that brings a lot, and costs very little. It is a good value wine.
This wine is not shy. If you like a big, savory red, then this is for you.
