We were just in Raleigh, North Carolina visiting family, and found ourselves with a free afternoon. Part of that afternoon ended up being spent sitting in the comfy bar at Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse, where we felt in need of red wine. It was 96 degrees outside, but that somehow left us undaunted (air conditioning is a wonderful thing). After a trial sip of the cabernet that was on special we opted to upgrade, and went with what is usually a reliable Napa Cab you can count on.
Wine: 2013 Charles Krug Napa Valley Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery Location: Napa Valley, California
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: July, 2016
Tasting Notes: Dark purplish red in color with a nose of black currant and blackberry. This is full bodied and long. Exactly what you expect in an excellent Napa cab, which is a good thing. There’s a little tobacco and other nuances. Nicely complex. We were looking for a good, solid glass of red wine and that is what we got.
Price Point – in the $25-$28 range, based on quick look at www.wine-seacher.com. (by the way, Wine-Searcher is a great place to research particular wines)
Would We Buy It? – yes we would. This is a solid Napa Valley Cabernet which will you leave you satisfied and won’t break the bank. Good stuff.
This is a quality wine from a reliable producer and a great area. You can’t go wrong with this one.
A votre santé!
