Spanish reds continue to be some of the best values available anywhere. These include a wide range of styles, from the Tempranillo of the Ribera del Duero, to the classic and complex reds of Rioja and the world class wine of the Priorat. And then there are so many more, representing regions and grapes not known to most, but all worth exploring. Here is a more traditional Spanish wine, but still a good one.
Winery Location: Ribera del Duero, Spain
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: December 2019
Tasting Notes: A dark red wine, this has a nose of berry fruit, with floral notes, and tobacco. Blackberry and cherry seem to be prominent. It is medium bodied, with a nice mouth feel and a fresh palate due to the good acid balance. The tannins are firm, but very approachable, and a very good food wine. This is a complex Ribera del Duero for under $20. 100% Tempranillo.
Price Point – $19 SRP
Would We Buy It? – Yes. This is a solid Ribera del Duero at a reasonable price. Would be great with pizza, pasta or paella.
