Getting a really good wine in the under $10 price range is a difficult thing. Getting one from the Loire Valley is harder, and when you find one it’s generally best to buy a few bottles. This wine is in that category, under $10, excellent quality, and you really should buy a few bottles. Here it is:
Wine: 2018 Vignobles Lachateau Loire Valley Vouvray
Winery Location: Loire Valley, France
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: August 2019
Tasting Notes: Light straw in color, with a nose of peach, apple and an undercurrent of baking spice. Bright on the palate, and off dry, this is smooth and balanced. It stays clean throughout. A great sipping wine, and also one that goes very well with spicy food, including chicken chile. We bought this at Trader Joe’s.
Price Point – $7.99, and a ridiculously good value at that price point. This is really a delicious wine, with no faults to be found.
Would We Buy It? – we would, and we do. There is frequently a bottle in our fridge now.
This was a wine that we took a flyer on, or Cheri did actually, one day at Trader Joe’s. It was really inexpensive. It is actually really good. That all translates into a great value, and a wine that you should try if you like Vouvray, or off dry Riesling, or Chenin Blanc.
A votre santé!
