Here we’ll review a Cabernet Sauvignon from Lake County, California. We’ve had the last few vintages of this wine, and they are all about the same. That is a very good thing as it represents a solid value, and consistency is just an added benefit. Here it is:
Wine: 2019 Shannon Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery Location: Lake County, California
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: August 2021
Tasting Notes: a dark red wine, this has a nose of berries, with some smoke and mint. It is full bodied, and the mid palate is rich with fruit. It stays that way through the finish, and that finish is pretty long. Tannins are medium and the overall wine is smooth throughout. This is not the most complex wine in the world, but it really provides an enjoyable wine drinking experience for the money. Since it is pretty consistent year to year, you can consider this a go to wine when you want a good bottle without spending a lot. We’ll add this to our Value List.
Price Point – You can find this around $12-$14. We actually ran across some on a super sale for $6, and bought a bunch. It’s a good value under $15.
Would We Buy It? – Sure. We have and likely will again. This is a solid, dependable California Cabernet Sauvignon.
Shannon Ridge is only one of the Shannon Family of Wines. Their other lines include the higher end OVIS and Clay Shannon wines. Their Buck Shack series is also very popular, and you can grab that for about $20 from the winery right now.
This is a solid wine, and a good entry point into Shannon Family of Wines. We recommend it.
