As you probably guessed from the name, Aquitaine is a French bistro, located in the Legacy Place shopping center off of Route 1A in Dedham, MA. We tend to like French bistros, and are happy to report that this is no exception. When you walk in a large bar extends on the left toward the back of the restaurant. The seating area is open, comfortable and lively, at least it was on this particular Sunday afternoon. It was brunch, so they were not serving the normal lunch menu, but several lunch choices were available. We settled into a corner table and ordered drinks, including a light purple drink with a Blackberry
floating in it, called the Fluer de Lis. It was concocted with gin, parfait amour, white cranberry juice and some sparkling rose. Parfait Amour is a purple liqueur flavored with flowers, mostly roses and violets, and vanilla. Cheri liked it, and I have to say it was quite different from anything I’ve had before.
Food consisted of brunch staples, including steak and eggs, french toast with berries, crab
cakes benedict and a wagyu burger with fries (for me!). The burger was one of the juiciest I have ever had and perfectly cooked. It required frequent use of napkin but that was just fine. Everything was tasty, hot and well prepared. I would expect the rest of the menu is executed equally well. There is a plates du jour everyday for dinner, where the menu expands considerably.
If you like the atmosphere of a French bistro then we recommend you try Aquitaine in Dedham. Our wallet is out if we are in the area again. We’d like to see how they fare during regular lunch or dinner.
A votre santé!
