Here’s an everyday wine for a great price. This is made from Sangiovese and hails from Puglia in Italy. It’s not the most complex or memorable wine you’ll ever run across, but it comes at a great price and is perfect for an everyday red.
Wine: 2018 Conti Torraiolo Sangiovese
Winery Location: Puglia, Italy
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: May 2022
Tasting Notes: The wine has a fruity nose, predominantly cherry with some berry. It is smooth, with a fruity palate, nice balance and a good finish. This is eminently drinkable, and is great with a pizza. A solid value, the wine is 12.5% alcohol, so a bit of a lighter option.
Price Point – $7 at Wegmans near us in North Carolina.
Would We Buy It? – we would, have and still do. This is a solid everyday red at a great price.
It’s wonderful that there are many solid choices for inexpensive everyday wines, frequently under $10. Let’s hope that the current inflationary world doesn’t change that too much.
