Here’s a quick review of a recent purchase, and a pretty solid value. The wine is Cabernet Sauvignon, gets good scores from the wine press, and only cost us $15. Chances are you’ll find it, or the 2016 vintage of the same wine, for under $20. It’s quite good for the money and something to pop open with your grilled steak in the middle of the week. Here are the particulars:
Wine: 2015 Z. Alexander Brown Uncaged Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery Location: Napa
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: July 2018
Tasting Notes: A dark reddish/purple wine, this has a nice nose of berries with some oak and other nuances. It is just shy of full bodied on the palate, with nice red and black fruit. Good length and a solid core lead to an overall satisfying finish. This is a solid bottle of wine, from Northern California coastal and valley vineyards. Good value.
Price Point – under $20, we paid $15. This is the 2015 vintage, you might find the 2016 in your store. We suspect it is similar in value, and will be looking for a bottle to verify that.
Would We Buy It? – Yes. At $15 this was a good value purchase. Nice wine.
Good for a steak, a roast or just an enjoyable glass, this is a Northern California Cabernet worth the money.
A votre santé!
