Summer may have passed us by, but that doesn’t mean you can’t continue to enjoy a nice glass of Rosé. Here we’ll review a great option from Germany and Ernst Loosen.
Wine: 2020 Villa Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé
Winery Location: Pfalz, Germany
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: October 2021
Tasting Notes: this wine is made at a vineyard and facility which Ernst Loosen has leased since 1996. It is light salmon in color, and the nose, while rich, is very elegant. Strawberry and red plum fruits come through, along with a light, restrained cherry. There is also a floral note and some citrus. It is a complex and sophisticated wine. On the palate it is medium light in body, with delicate fruit and an off dry finish. This is beautiful, and a really high quality Rosé. The color here comes from a light press of the Pinot Noir, from grapes that are specifically grown to make Rosé.
Price Point – $14.99
Would We Buy It? – Oh yes. This is just a ridiculous value. You rarely find a wine with this much refinement and quality at this kind of price.
You probably already have a favorite Rosé, but you should give this one a try.
