With the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival on the doorstep, we are already looking into the future to
what’s next. In this case what’s next, along with an edition or two of Joe’s Wine Making Adventure and some wine reviews, is the Greenwich Wine and Food Festival , being held Oct 3-5, 2013.
This tented event on the Long Island Sound features national and local celebrity chefs, sommeliers and culinary experts, cooking demonstrations, gourmet tastings, cook-offs, and wine and spirits. You can enjoy more than 100 vendors and listen to live performances by Dispatch and Country Music star Pat Green!
Now as a disclaimer, while Newport is a Wine and Food Festival with the focus on wine, the Greenwich event really might be better categorized as a Food and Wine Festival, because it seems the food is going to take center stage here. We haven’t been before, but we have some press passes waiting for us and it looks like a really good time. We’ll also be doing an interview with one of the sommeliers who will be talking at the event, so look for that sometime next week.

The event is benefiting the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a very worthy cause.
If you’ve never heard of it, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families throughout the Northeast, free of charge. It’s a community that celebrates the fun, friendship and spirit of childhood where every kid can “raise a little hell.”
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in 1988 by Paul Newman with one simple premise in mind, that every child, no matter their illness, could experience the transformational spirit and friendships that go hand in hand with camp. All proceeds from the festival’s Kick-Off Party, live and silent auctions and direct donations benefit the organization.
