Sometimes you just want a delicious, all around pleasing red wine. It doesn’t need to be world class, it doesn’t have to be super complex. You’re not really looking for something cerebral, nothing that you’re going to ponder and discuss with someone. You just want a good glass of wine, maybe something you can drink by itself but would also go great with a pizza. You also don’t want to spend too much for this bottle.
There are many options which would satisfy this need. Here we’ll point out one good one.
Winery Location: Tuscany, Italy
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: April 2021
Tasting Notes: this is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, with grapes selected from prime sites in the hills of Tuscany. It is a very consistent wine vintage to vintage, and this one is exceptionally good. It is a medium dark red, and the nose has lots of red fruits. Medium+ in body, it is round on the palate and very smooth. This is just an overall pleasing bottle of wine, with a nice long finish. By itself or with a plate of pasta, this is a good wine and a good value. 13% alcohol.
Price Point – $10 – $12
Would We Buy It? – we have, and we will again. We started drinking this wine over 20 years ago at an Italian restaurant in Walt Disney World. Some things don’t change much over time, and that is a good thing.
For just over $10 you can’t go wrong with this bottle.
A votre santé!
