New England Wine & Food Events to Look For This Fall

I love the Fall.  The weather turns cooler, the mornings turn crisp and the Wine & Food events wind up.  This is busy season for wine bloggers in New England, and this year is no exception.  Here are a few of the events on the calendar for the area.  Unfortunately we won’t be at all of them, but that’s only because two are on the same weekend.  Otherwise…..

All of these are worthy of consideration and support charitable causes. All will also provide a memorable wine and food experience.  So do please consider:

1. Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival – a four day journey through great wine and food at some seriously spectacular WF-logo-2016-(3)venues.  One of our favorites anywhere, and happening this September 22-25 in Newport, RI.  You can visit their website at http://www.newportmansions.org/events/wine-and-food-festival.  You can read our latest preview of the event by clicking here.  Highly recommended.

2. Greenwich Wine & Food Festival – this happens September 23 and 24, with the main events at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, CT.  It’s a tent event, and is really more food oriented than wine, but you will find a lot of beer and spirits as well.  They bring the greenwich-food-wine-2015-taco-tent-vendor-serving-hungry-guestscelebrity chefs in numbers, and have great cooking demos going on all day.  Fun events happen all day and night, there is front line musical talent and the Plan B Burger Bar tends to dominate the Burger Battle.  Read more and get tickets here http://serendipitysocial.com/greenwich-wine-food/.  You can read our review of the event from 2014 by clicking here.

3. The Art of Wine & Food – a Thursday night event happening October 13 at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT between 6 and 10 PM.  There will be tasting bites from over 20 local restaurants and world class wine and spirits.  All of this happens surrounded by an impressive collection of American artwork.  Information and tickets can be found at http://artofwineandfood.org/tickets/.  This will be our first year at the event so look for a review sometime in late October.  What we do know is that it is organized by Vicky Cirilli, who is absolutely fabulous and put together the past two Savor CT events.  She puts on a world class event so we expect good things.

4. Taste for a Cause – presented by Mark Gasbarro, proprietor of Gasbarros Wines in Providence, RI, the event is held at a magnificent mansion in Warwick, RI.  This year it happens on Friday, October 21st.  On a nice evening the back doors are open, the patio is in play and the views cascade logodown to the water’s edge and beyond.  The band plays throughout, the wines are top notch and everything supports The Program in Women’s Oncology at Women & Infants Hospital, also in Providence.  We have had many thoroughly enjoyable nights at this event.  You can get more info and register here: http://www.gasbarros.com/pages/taste-for-a-cause.  You can read our review of last year’s event by clicking here.

5. EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival – OK, it’s not in New England, but it is in Disneyworld and that means it’s fun.  Between September 14th and November food-wine-overview-festival-center-0014th there will be lots of International Kiosks set up around World Showcase, with food and wine from around the world.  Culinary events, wine events, evening Grand Tasting events and everything else you can imagine is also happening. And where else can you sip some Cabernet with Mickey Mouse?  More info is at: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/epcot/epcot-international-food-and-wine-festival/.  We’ll be there at some point during its run, so we’ll also report back on the happenings in the mouse house.

Think you might be bored this Fall?  Clearly you don’t have to be.  There are plenty of great events to consider if world class wine and food are on your list of fun things to do.  All of the above should do the trick.

A votre santé!
