Savor CT Coming April 10-11! Wine and food, and lot’s of it!

savor logo jpgIf you read any of our blog you know we love wine and food events, or food and wine events, or beer and pizza events etc. etc.  It’s not just due to the great wine and food, meeting new people or generally just having a good time, it’s also because they are almost invariably attached to and supporting a very worthy cause.  This event, coming up the second weekend in April, is no exception.  Savor! will benefit the Robert Irvine Foundation.  The Foundation’s mission is to support individuals and organizations committed to rifoundation_660x330_72enriching the lives of our military personnel (active, retired and veterans) and their families. The Foundation also strives to create awareness throughout the community of the sacrifices made by our military personnel and their families, and inspire community support for the men and women defending our freedom. To learn more about the Foundation and Robert’s commitment to our military, please visit www.robertirvinefoundation.org.  Since we’ve been involved at some level with the U.S. armed forces throughout our lives, this is a charity which strikes a chord.  It’s great when you can support something worthwhile and have a great time doing so.

wine-pouring-30-of-197-917x500Savor! is set up to be a great way to spend a weekend, or just a day.  Grand Tasting events happen both Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  During these you can “Sip, Savor & Stroll” for hours through world class wine, beer and food.  The winery list is impressive, and includes names such as Casey Flat Ranch (that’s right – one of our favorite wineries anywhere), Caymus, J. Lohr, Merriam, Newton, Rutherford and William Hill, to name a few.  Dozens of local restaurants will participate in providing the bites throughout the Grand Tastings.  These are all inclusive events – you get the wine, the food and you get the cooking demonstrations from world renowned chefs such as Robert Irvine, Mary Ann Esposito and Ming Tsai.  Tyler Anderson will be there, and we’ve had his food several times back when he was Executive Chef at the Copper Beech Inn, in Ivoryton, CT.  We remember it being quite excellent.

Saturday night is the Charity Gala, which starts with a bubbly reception hosted by Chandon and then moves to a moving, walkingchef-robert-irvine-pepper around dinner and dessert prepared by the great chefs in attendance and accompanied by wines and other libations.  This should be a great evening of food and drink.

The website for Savor is at http://www.savorct.com/index.html.  You can buy tickets and plan your attack.  All events are at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, and there are rooms available at the attached Marriot through the Area Hotels link on the Savor page.

This is going to be fun.  It’s only three weeks out, and it’s going to come fast.

A votre sante!
