Here is a wine that provides plenty of Cabernet Sauvignon character in a reasonably priced bottle.
Wine: 2020 Clos du Bois California Cabernet Sauvignon – Hand Selected Lots
Winery Location: Sonoma, CA
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: March, 2023
Tasting Notes: this is a very dark, purple wine and opaque. There is a big nose of blackberry, vanilla and coffee cream, accentuated with hints of oak and black plum. On the palate the juice if full bodied, with sweet tannins and a good balance. This is an excellent everyday wine.
Price Point – You should find it for $12, maybe less.
Would We Buy It? – Yes, this is a good value California Cabernet Sauvignon with some complexity, full body and a nice finish. At $12 you can’t go wrong here.
The Clos du Bois label continues to produce solid wines in the lower price points. Unfortunately you can’t visit the winery anymore, as that was shuttered and production moved to other sites when the label was sold and fell victim the the conglomerate consolidation that has devoured many wineries in the past decade or two. Still, the wine is good.
