While this is a little late for the recent New Year’s Eve celebrations, there are certainly more occasions for celebration coming up. It could be a birthday, an anniversary, a romantic evening or maybe Valentine’s day? Whatever it happens to be, this sparkling wine is a great value to consider.
Wine: Domaine Bousquet Sparkling Rosé Brut NV
Winery Location: Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
Tasted By: Neil Date: Jan 2021
Tasting Notes: a medium salmon color, this wine presents a fountain of bubbles at first, which have decent longevity for a Charmat (or tank) method sparkling wine. In the Charmat method, the wine’s second fermentation occurs in a pressurized tank. In the traditional method, such as that used in Champagne, that second fermentation occurs in the bottle. Charmat wines are not aged as long, and you won’t generally see bubbles as small, or for as long as you would in a good, traditional method wine.
That said, this wine really delivers a quality sparkling wine, with delicate fruit (citrus mixed with raspberry and strawberry) and a crisp and clean finish. It is refreshing and very well made. The blend is 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay.
Price Point – $13
Would We Buy It? – oh yes, this is a great value in a sparkler. If you are looking to spend less than $20 on a bottle of sparkling wine, this needs to be on your short list. If your preference is Rosé, then this will be hard to beat in that price range.
Clearly a quality bottle and an easy recommendation, on our Value List this goes.
A votre santé!
