Below we review an outstanding wine from Antinori, one of the most famous, venerable wine making families in Italy. They’ve been doing this a very, very long time, as in twenty six generations long. Practice definitely makes perfect in this case. Here’s the wine:
Wine: 2017 Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva Tenuta Tignanello
Winery Location: Chianti Classico, Tuscany
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: April 2022
Tasting Notes: The wine is a dark, purplish red in color. The nose screams out of the glass, showcasing a cherry and blackberry fruit core. There’s some raspberry too. Throw in a touch of charred oak and floral notes and you have a complex wine. It’s full bodied and rich on the palate as well, as the fruit core holds sway and you get that touch of charred oak. Acid is fresh and the wine is beautifully balanced. Tannins are integrated. The wine is young and will last for the next decade. A long finish completes the very satisfying experience. This is an excellent wine.
Price Point – ~$45
Would We Buy It? – We did, and would again. This is a high quality red from one of the best producers on the planet. It is highly recommended.
Antinori is one of those iconic names in the world of wine, one where you know you’re going to get a quality bottle. It’s not even debatable. They just make great wine.
