We’ve reviewed many wines from Domaine Bousquet over the past few years, and some of our favorites have been their sparkling wines. These tend to provide some of the best value wines we run across. This year’s versions, both white and rosé, are in for review just in time for the holidays. Both wines are made in the Charmat method, where the second fermentation occurs in pressurized stainless steel tanks. Let’s see what’s in the bottles.
Wine: NV Domaine Bousquet Sparkling White Brut
Winery Location: Tupungato, Mendoza, Argentina
Tasted By: Neil Date: November 2021
Tasting Notes: This wine is 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir. The color is that of golden straw. There are fresh apples on the nose, and lots of them. On the palate this juice has good texture, bright fruit and an emergence of citrus. There is a lemon/lime flavor that pushes through to the finish. This is fresh, delicious and a superb value.
Price Point – SRP $13
Would We Buy It? – We would, without reservation.
And now the Rosé:
Wine: NV Domaine Bousquet Sparkling Rosé Brut
Winery Location: Tupungato, Mendoza, Argentina
Tasted By: Neil Date: November 2021
Tasting Notes: Here the proportions are reversed, and the wine is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. The color is a medium, salmon pink. Bubbles are fine and persistent. The nose and the palate bring elegant red fruit, featuring raspberry and strawberry. The finish is long, clean and refreshing.
Price Point – SRP $13
Would We Buy It? – We absolutely would. This wine delivers way beyond its price point.
You can’t find many wines out there that deliver the kind of quality to price ratio that these two do. Domaine Bousquet makes a great sparkling wine for the money.
These are perfect holiday choices.
A votre santé!
