Two More Good Choices in Low Priced Cabernet Sauvignon

Let’s talk about two more bottles of good Cabernet Sauvignon that don’t break the bank.  These will set you back about $10.  They’re not Mondavi Reserve by any stretch, but they are enjoyable wines with some complexity and solid fruit profiles.  For those of us that can’t spend $20+ on an everyday bottle of wine (0r $120+ on the Mondavi Reserve!), these are a good option.

Wca bugianoine:   2017 Ca Bugiano Cabernet Sauvignon

Winery Location:   Veneto, Italy

Tasted By:  Neil & Cheri               Date:  January 2019

Tasting Notes: From the Veneto region in northeastern Italy, this is a lighter style of Cabernet, with good fruit aromas and flavors.  It is smooth, easy drinking and is medium bodied.  Its not a big, brooding Cab, but it is an enjoyable bottle of wine.

Price Point –   $9

Would We Buy It?    We would, and did, actually.  A good value bottle.

And now the second wine, this one a little bigger and richer, but still a more medium bodied, restrained wine:

IMG_2204Wine:   2016 M.A.N Cabernet Sauvignon – Ou Kalant – Coastal Region

Winery Location:   South Africa

Tasted By:    Neil & Cheri                   Date:

Tasting Notes:  This has a little more going on than the wine above.  Still medium bodied, but a bit richer and definitely more complex.  The dark purple/red colored wine has a lively nose of cherry and currant, as well as nuances of oak and tar.  It has a long finish.  Better after a little air time – let this open up a bit.  This makes an excellent house wine.

Price Point –    $10

Would We Buy It?    Once again, yes we would.  This is a very good value.

Have some Cabernet, save some money.  That sounds like a winning combination to us.

A votre santé!
