Below are two recommended white wines. They both provide a smooth but crisp and fresh drinking experience, and will be perfect companions to fish, shellfish or lighter chicken dishes. Neither will put a big hurt on your bank account. Here they are:
Wine: 2019 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Winery Location: Marlborough, New Zealand
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: October 2020
Tasting Notes: very pale straw in color, with green tones, this has a nose filled with peach, lime and some blackcurrant bud. It is not a big, overly grassy Sauvignon Blanc. On the palate it is smooth, while still maintaining a crisp finish and fresh profile. This is quite good, and an easy drinker.
Price Point – $14.99 SRP
Would We Buy It? – we would. It’s a quality wine at a good price point, and we’ll add it to our Value List.
And the second:
Wine: 2019 Count Karolyi Gruner Veltliner
Winery Location: Hungary
Tasted By: Neil Date: December 2020
Tasting Notes: another wine with a straw color and greenish hue, this has a nose of peach, apple, lemon and spice. The palate brings citrus and stone fruit. This juice is dry, clean and refreshing, with a long finish. Alcohol is on the lower side at 12.2%. If I picture some oysters on the half shell, a bottle of this wine would be right next to it.
Price Point – $11.99 SRP
Would We Buy It? – yes again, this is a quality and refreshing white wine for very little money. Another wine we will add to our Value List.
Both of the above wines are refreshing and delicious, as well as built to pair well with lighter dishes, or some spicy Asian food. Both are recommended.
