The Taste for a Cause charity wine tasting is coming up next Thursday, September 18th at the Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, RI, and is raising funds for The Program in Women’s Oncology at Women & Infants Hospital. You can read a more in depth preview here. Recently I got my hands on the wine list for the event, so I thought I’d share a couple of highlights. As usual Mark Gasbarro has arranged a pretty impressive lineup for our tasting pleasure. Some facts:
-I saw at least 3 Barolos and a Barbaresco on the list, which makes me happy since we were in Piemonte earlier this year and I’m still craving Nebbiolo.
-At least 3 Valpolicella Ripassos from the Veneto region, which also makes me happy because I really like Valpolicella Ripasso.
– At least 4 Napa Cabernets, and probably more. This also, you guessed it, makes me happy. I can tell you that Chimney Rock Cabernet is on the list, and I just tasted the 2010 Chimney Rock Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon on Monday and it is pretty spectacular. Hopefully they’ll have it, if so don’t miss it.
-Lots and lots of other stuff, including French Champagne, whites from everywhere, assorted Pinot Noir and even a Vermentino from Sardinia. You’ll get a chance to expand your wine horizons a bit here.
We’ll be working our way around the room, so hope to see you there. If you haven’t registered yet get in touch with Stacy Hart at (401) 556-2553 or email her at stacy@gasbarros.com.
This should be a great evening in a wonderful venue. All for a very good cause.
A votre sante!
