When you want someting fruity, fun and a little on the lighter side, Asti Spumanti is always a great choice. The best of them are almost ethereal, like drinking fluffy clouds with fruit flavors and a pleasing bubbly sensation. Made with the Moscato grape, alcohol tends to be lower than 10% and the juice can frequently be off dry with a touch of sweetness. Asti is located in Piemonte, in northwest Italy where the reds of Barolo and Barbaresco take center stage, but don’t forget the whites!
This bottle is from Acquesi, one of favorite producers over the past few years for reasonably priced, quality wines in this varietal and style.
Wine: Acquesi Asti Spumante

Tasting Notes: The color is pale straw with a greenish hue. There are lots of fine bubbles here, with a nose of apple, pomelo and peach. It is off dry with noticeable sweetness. This is always delicious and the current version is no exception. The bottle is also gorgeous, so this makes a great table bottle at your spring or summer party.
Price Point – $18
Would We Buy It? – Yes. We do. Always delicious and an excellent value.
The lower alcohol bubbles in Asti Spumante and Moscato are a go to for us when we want something light and fun. They tend to be smoother than most Proseccos as well as lighter.
