If you’re looking for something to break up the winter doldrums, and you’re not going to be at Mohegan Sun for their WineFest, then a great alternative on January 25th exists as Trinity Rep and Bottles Fine Wine host the third annual Red, White and Groove party at the Pell Chafee Performance Center in Providence.
We’re longtime season ticket holders and, when we can, contributors of Trinity Rep, so we obviously believe this is a worthy cause. Aside from being one of our go to date nights, Trinity does so much for the area that people never even consider. Catch a Brown MFA Program production sometime, or better yet see some of the Brown aspiring actors in a Trinity production, and marvel at how talented these young people are. Trinity is active in arts education across the spectrum. We’re big fans of the Company, the actors and the organization.
Here’s more detailed info from the press release:
Trinity Rep is pleased to announce the return of their annual wine tasting event – Red White & Groove – a casual evening featuring food, wine, and dancing to the music of Superchief Trio. Co-chaired by Gil MacLean and his wife Michelle Collie. The event is sponsored by Bottles Fine Wine. The benefit party will take place on Saturday January 25th from 7PM to 11PM at the Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire St., Providence. The evening features a wine tasting with culinary pairings from several local restaurants and the danceable rhythms Superchief Trio with opening act 3pile.
Tickets are $75 and are available online at www.trinityrep.com, by phone at 401-351-4242 or in person at the Trinity Rep Box Office at 201 Washington St. in Providence.
“This annual event has been such a successful party; we couldn’t wait to bring it back,” says Curt Columbus, Trinity Rep’s Richard L. Bready Artistic Director, “The incredible combination of our amazing area restaurateurs, Bottles Fine Wine, and the foot-stomping grooves of the Superchief Trio promise to heat up Downcity Providence this January.”
Bottles Fine Wine will be curating the wine tasting and the exclusive food pairing menu will be provided by event partners Chez Pascal, Nick’s on Broadway, Russell Morin Fine Catering, The Grange and Walrus and Carpenter Oysters.
Almost two hundred guests attended last year’s annual wine tasting event, sampling wines and savory gourmet treats before dancing the night away at the Pell Chafee Performance Center. All proceeds go towards Trinity Rep’s artistic and educational programming.
Here’s a little more info on the wine and food from May at Bottles. Bottles does a lot of charity events, so kudos to them for that. Their approach to this sounds delicious and interesting.
“Attendees will be greeted with a stunning array of delicious food and wine pairings. Selected by the experts at Bottles, wines for this walk-around tasting come from around the world, and have been chosen for their approachability, quality, great value, and ability to take food to the next level. Over 40 different wines will be paired to a full course of dishes, including appetizers, salad, first course, and an entrée. Wines will be paired with the appropriate course. For instance, attendees can enjoy lighter, veggie friendly wines with the salad course. Chez Pascal, Nick’s on Broadway, The Grange, and Walrus and Carpenter Oysters are local businesses that champion seasonal, local ingredients in Rhode Island. Each will be assigned one course for the evening.
All of the wines will be available for purchase from Bottles at this benefit party, with 20% of proceeds from Red White & Groove going to supporting Trinity Rep’s educational programs. The State Theater of Rhode Island, Trinity Repertory Company is now celebrating its 50th Anniversary Season. This season marks the 46th year of Project Discovery, Trinity Rep’s pioneering educational outreach program. Last season, Trinity Rep’s educational programs reached over 16,000 Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut students through matinees as well as in-school residencies and workshops.”
One nice thing about this is that if you find a wine you like you can definitely get it as all the wines will be something Bottles is retailing.
There will be lots of music as well, and dancing is certain to break out.
Sounds like a great time. Unfortunately we’ll be at Mohegan Sun that Saturday night. Why do they have to put these things on the same night?
A votre sante!
