Here is a pretty special, Bordeaux style red blend, crafted from grapes sourced in Pritchard Hill as well as surrounded areas in Napa Valley. It’s a big wine at 14.9% alcohol, and in every way is a stellar example of a rich, complex and delicious Napa red. Here it is:
Wine: 2018 David Arthur Proprietary Red
Winery Location: St. Helena, Napa Valley, Callifornia
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: April 2024
Tasting Notes: This is dark purple-red in color. The nose is full of blackberry, currant , cherry and orange peel with wood tones, herbs and some mint. Full bodied, this juice has a gorgeous core of pure fruit that carries throughout the experience. Tannins are medium+ and well integrated, although this will still last a long time in the cellar. Good acid keeps it balanced. The finish is very long. This has everything you want in a top Napa red wine. It is superior.
Price Point – SRP is about $80
Would We Buy It? – Yes we would. This is top shelf all the way and worth the $80 price tag. If you can find it for less it is a steal.
We haven’t really delved into the wines from David Arthur Vineyards. Based on this wine, we clearly need to do so. Add it to the list of things to do.
A votre santé!
