Summer is all about times outside, picnics, barbecues and family get togethers. When the heat gets turned up, the drink of choice is not a big red wine, but rather something lighter and fresh. Here we’ll take a look at three bottles which are built for summer, and one of them is not a wine (at least not only a wine)! Here they are:
Wine: 2021 Art of Earth Riesling
Winery Location: Grapes from the Rheinhessen QBA, Germany
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: June 2024
Tasting Notes: this is a dry Riesling, so don’t expect that slightly sweet version you might be used to. Still, it has wonderful fruit featuring lemon and lime. There are floral notes as well, and you get some of that telltale and classic petrol on the nose. In the mouth this has some body and structure. As previously mentioned it is dry, clean, fresh and quite long. We had it with both baked cod and tacos, and it worked well with each. A very nice wine.
Price Point – $11.99
Would We Buy It? – Absolutely. This is a steal at $12.
And the second wine:
Wine: Mosketto Rosato
Winery Location: Grapes from northwest Italy
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: June 2024
Tasting Notes: a mix of moscato and brachetto, this is pinky orange and delicious. Apple, peach and floral notes are bright. This is quite sweet, but still fresh. You could use it as an aperitif, a summer sipper or as a dessert wine really. Very good. The Mosketto brand wines are always great, and a great value.
Price Point – $11.99
Would We Buy It? – yes again! This is pretty yummy stuff.
And, a Bellini anyone?
Wine: Artigiano Bellini Peach
Winery Location: Made in Spain
Tasted By: Neil & Cheri Date: July 2024
Tasting Notes: out of the bottle and into the glass this just screams freshly cut, ripe peaches. It is a blend of white wine and fruit puree, ready to drink. The palate is a little more restrained. This is something you want to serve chilled, maybe over ice. It is almost a dessert in itself, and a perfect instant cocktail for the summer. It’s pretty light too at only 6% alcohol. They make a mango and a strawberry version as well.
Price Point – $12.99
Would We Buy It? – Yes. This would be great at a picnic or barbecue, or on a sultry summer evening.
All three of these are delicious, refreshing and built for your next backyard party. The price point just makes it that much better. We recommend all three.
A votre santé!
